A Surprise For Me

Well sometimes it turns out that just working hard at school is enough to get a scholarship. After attending the RIM Career Fair at the start of this month I came back to Conestoga and decided that I wasn't going to my Wellness class because, ironically, I was pooped out and not feeling well.

As I was lounging in my home room, my course coordinator walks in and asks me why I wasn't in class. I don't really give him an answer and then he said that he needs to speak with me and says he'll be back in a second. I start grumbling to myself that I'm about to get lectured about attending classes and whatnot.

When he gets back he hands me an envelop. Confused, I open it and find out that I'm awarded with a $1500 scholarship and it will be given to me on my birthday of all days on February 25th. I asked my coordinator how I got this scholarship and from what I gathered, when you enter the program I'm in, they look at your high school transcript and award the top 2 or 3 students with scholarships. Our class was awarded with 3 scholarships and I received the largest one which makes me believe that I had the best marks going into that program.

Now, if they considered the students coming from other Universities the results probably would've changed but why argue when I'm getting $1500? Now all I need to do is confirm a summer co-op job for myself and I'll feel justified in buying a nice gift for myself!

As for birthday plans, I mentioned to my one friend that I thought it would be cool to check out the Laser Quest in Cambridge since I believe the one in Kitchener was moved to there. We'll probably also go out to grab some food as well and make a full day out of it. It's most likely going to happen on Saturday the 27th so make your schedules free folks!
